Treble Group will once again support the delivery of the DHL Lifesaving Championships South Africa, taking place in Gqeberha from 26 March to 1 April 2026.
Treble has worked alongside Lifesaving South Africa since 2017, helping bring together partners, organisers and athletes around one of the country’s most distinctive sporting events, including the long-standing DHL partnership.
The Championships is one of the largest events on the national sporting calendar. More than 1,200 athletes from clubs across the country are expected to compete in both surf and pool disciplines, spanning all age groups from Nippers to Masters.
The surf events will take place at Kings Beach, including surf races, boards, skis and surf boat competition, while Newton Park Swimming Pool will host the national pool championships.
Kyle Nel, Managing Director of Treble Group, says the Championships highlight the strength of the partnership supporting the sport.
“The SA Championships reflect the strong alignment between DHL and Lifesaving South Africa, a partnership built on shared values of teamwork, readiness and service,” said Nel. “We are proud to support a sport where community service and elite competition go hand in hand.”
Lifesaving occupies a unique place in global sport. Athletes must first qualify and serve as lifeguards before they are eligible to compete, placing community service at the heart of the sport.
This year’s Championships take place in the lead-up to the Lifesaving World Championships, which will be hosted in Nelson Mandela Bay in November 2026. The global event is expected to welcome up to 6,000 athletes, coaches and officials from around the world, marking the return of the sport’s flagship international competition to African shores for the first time in more than three decades.
As preparations build toward the World Championships, the national event offers an early indication of the depth of South African talent and the country’s readiness to host the world’s leading lifesaving nations.
