Treble successfully manages DHL Club Newlands Sleepover

Newlands, Cape Town – Treble Group was extremely satisfied with the successful execution of the DHL Club Newlands Sleepover, which took place on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the iconic DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium.

The legendary Sleepover event, celebrating over a decade in existence, began with kids being treated to an exclusive training session with some of the DHL Stormers. As the field started to fill up, the energetic group was ushered onto the stands with the help of MC, Carl Wastie from KFM, for a group photo that embodied the camaraderie of the event.

26 members of the DHL Stormers team, including Scarra Ntubeni, Damien De Allende, Juan De Jongh and Eben Etzbeth, joined the children to assist in the short coaching clinic and a game of tag rugby, while parents were engulfed in an insightful War Room session with Coach Paul Feeley and two players. The parents had the opportunity to pose pertinent questions about the upcoming season, strategy and the future of the sport in SA, in the Q&A session.

The War Room was followed by a signing and photo session where the children had the opportunity to engage with their heroes one-on-one while getting their DHL rugby balls signed by the team.

The children received an informative chat around nutrition and fitness before an exciting Play-the-Bounce obstacle course by Brightrock, winning participants awesome spot prizes. The adults wore DHL plane and delivery van suits to participate in the DHL Delivery Run, much to the delight of their children cheering them on from the side lines. Once the grand prize was given to the parent-and-child pair who participated with the most spirit, tents were pitched on the hallowed grounds of DHL Newlands and the braai fires got going to end off the night before lights-out.

Treble would like to thank DHL, Brightrock, Tsogo Sun, Peninsula Beverages, CellC, The Entertainer, Deep Heat, Checkers, DSTV and SA Breweries, whose much-valued contributions added to the awesomeness of the event.

Treble Group and Club Newlands activate the Annual Club Newlands Sleepover

Over 350 young DHL Stormers supporters (and their moms and dads) descended on DHL Newlands for the annual DHL Club Newlands Sleepover. The event gave Club Newlands members and supporters the opportunity to sleep on the hallowed turf of the DHL Newlands pitch whilst enjoying some amazing activities throughout the evening.

The event kicked off in fine style with the children participating in a coaching clinic with members of the DHL Stormers squad and the WPRU development coaches. The players put the boys (and a few girls) through their paces teaching them valuable skills such as running from depth and the art of the tackle. The clinic proved not only to be very educational, but loads of fun for all those who were there.

After the clinic the entire group received rugby balls, which was signed by the DHL Stormers in attendance.

With the DHL Stormers’ players making their bow; it was time to get ready for a fun-filled evening ahead. Dad’s got busy putting their tents up while the kids played on the field with their new Club Newlands Rugby balls. It was then time to eat with Spur, kindly providing all the juniors with burgers as part of a tasty dinner. The father’s had to work a little bit harder for their dinner, but only as much as cooking their Checkers meat packs on the braai’s provided. The evening continued with loads of entertainment .No one was left bored on this evening and fun was had right up to bedtime.

After a very long night, the families were woken to a hearty breakfast provided by Pro Nutro. It was then, unfortunately time for everyone to pack up their tents, make their way through the famous Newlands tunnel to collect their goodie bags and head home after what was another brilliant Sleepover at the famous old stadium.

A big thank you must go out to the our sponsors; DHL, Landrover, Momentum, Adidas, Castle, Oudemolen, Powerade, Spur, Ola, PostNet, Bokradio, TJ’s Lekka Braai, Checkers, Bokomo, J&M, Cape Union Mart and Flickaball for their unwavering support. Also thank you to everyone who attended what was another brilliant Sleepover.
