Stellenbosch, Cape Town – On behalf of Club Newlands, Treble Group would like to thank the players, sponsors and other valued guests for their generous support and priceless contribution to the 2017 DHL Stormers Golf Day. It was a swing of success!

Pioneered by Treble, on behalf of Club Newlands, the event allowed DHL Stormers players and sponsors to enjoy a well-deserved break away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to take in a relaxed round of golf on the exquisite De Zalze Estate. The golf day is our way of showing immense gratitude and appreciation to the players, sponsors and valued partners.

After a smooth and busy registration, sponsors and partners joined the DHL Stormers players on the green in what could not have been better weather. The golfers enjoyed 18 holes, each of which was activated by Club Newlands sponsors and partners, brining interactive elements to the game, such as refreshments and massages. The Treble hole offered the golfers a Mulligan, and donated the proceeds to the WP Rugby Hubs Development Programme.

The day concluded with a successful prize-giving, hosted by KFM’s Jeremy Harris. The golfers were treated to ice-cold Castle Lagers and a first-rate dinner, courtesy of De Zalze Golf Estate. This was followed by a Q&A session with some of the top DHL Stormers players, where they talked about their overall season performance and shared some of their squad insights and moments. The evening continued as the golfers were awarded with prizes donated by sponsors.

Using years of experience and established partnerships, Treble executed every aspect of the event, from conception to on-the-day event management. We would like to thank Club Newlands’ valued sponsors; DHL, Brightrock, Castle Lager, Tsogo Sun, Oude Molen, Peninsula Beverages, CellC, The Entertainer, PostNet and Deep Heat, for making this event come alive. We are aslo grateful to Western Province Rugby and De Zalze Golf Estate for assisting in bringing this event together.

DHL Stormers Announced For Clash Against Vodacom Blue Bulls This Saturday

Newlands Rugby Stadium – Thursday afternoon was balmy and filled with anticipation for the announcement of the DHL Stormers squad, pegged to go head to head with the Bulls this Saturday.

DHL Stormers head coach, Robbie Fleck, announced the appointments of captain Siya Kolisi and vice-captain Eben Etzebeth, who will make their debut in their respective positions, this Saturday against the Vodacom Blue Bulls, at Newlands Rugby Stadium.

Fleck expressed his delight in the selection and described it as a ‘good combo’. Speaking at the official pre-match press conference, Fleckie emphasized that the pair are a strong combination and that the squad is the same strength as they were at Curry Cup level. ‘Whoever worked hard last season was rewarded, we look forward to following through what was started and although there are tough obstacles we are going into the season confidently. The wait is over, it’s time to get stuck in.’

He went on to describe Eben Etzebeth as a ‘quality rugby player who has finally found his feet within the squad’, he also applauded the 22-year-old’s understanding of how to play the Bulls.

When asked about his excitement about being selected as captain of the 2017 Stormers squad, 25-year-old captain Siya Kolisi said that while he is obviously excited (‘The Bulls is the team you want to start the season with!’), his main focus is to have a great game on Saturday. His coach pinned him as a natural choice for the squad captaincy. ‘He is a great kid and a humble man. The team really enjoy his leadership qualities.’ Said Robbie Fleck about Kolisi.

About the Bulls he said that they’re facing a good squad who have made great purchases and that the boys look forward to playing them this weekend.

Fleckie also touched on the bench, adding that in modern day rugby, the bench selection is completely tactical. ‘A strong bench is key.’ With Robbie Fleck’s commitment to honing young talent within the squad and the leadership comprising of two world class players, we look forward to what the DHL Stormers will serve up this Super Rugby this season.

Treble honours Club Newlands & WP Rugby sponsors in an evening of appreciation and song

Green Point, Cape Town – Treble Group, in partnership with Club Newlands and Western Province Rugby, managed an evening of song and socialising at the Grand Café & Beach last night, to show appreciation to our sponsors.

We invited the full DHL Stormers team to mingling with the sponsors, partners and WP Rugby exco and management before the event was opened by Supersport presenter and rugby commentator Matthew Pearce.

President of Western Province Rugby Football Union, Thelo Wakefield, delivered a powerful message to the team and guests, conveying a heartfelt thank you to all the sponsors, which include DHL, Brightrock, Peninsula Beverages, Deep Heat, The Entertainer, SAB, Oude Molen, Postnet, Cell C and Tsogo Sun.

Coach Robbie Fleck, affectionately known as ‘Fleckie,’ then took the stage to give the audience a season overview, where he highlighted the importance of giving the younger players in the squad more game time during Super Rugby. The coach also talked the crowd through how far the team has come and his vision for the 2017 squad.

The Q&A session that followed with flanker Siya Kolisi, wing Damian De Allende and lock Eben Etzbeth highlighted each player’s spirit, ability and support of each other as teammates, the latter sentiments emphasized by Kolisi when he expressed how important it is for him to provide support to his teammates on the field.

Treble invited local Afro-operatic pop sensations Gugulethu Tenors, who wowed audiences with their impressive vocals and energetic renditions of South African classics like ‘Pata Pata,’ ‘The Click Song,’ ‘Meadowlands’ and the ever patriotic ‘Nkosi Sikelele Afrika.’ We appointed the catering team at the Grand to present an excellent feast and first-rate service to our valued guests.

Treble successfully manages DHL Club Newlands Sleepover

Newlands, Cape Town – Treble Group was extremely satisfied with the successful execution of the DHL Club Newlands Sleepover, which took place on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the iconic DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium.

The legendary Sleepover event, celebrating over a decade in existence, began with kids being treated to an exclusive training session with some of the DHL Stormers. As the field started to fill up, the energetic group was ushered onto the stands with the help of MC, Carl Wastie from KFM, for a group photo that embodied the camaraderie of the event.

26 members of the DHL Stormers team, including Scarra Ntubeni, Damien De Allende, Juan De Jongh and Eben Etzbeth, joined the children to assist in the short coaching clinic and a game of tag rugby, while parents were engulfed in an insightful War Room session with Coach Paul Feeley and two players. The parents had the opportunity to pose pertinent questions about the upcoming season, strategy and the future of the sport in SA, in the Q&A session.

The War Room was followed by a signing and photo session where the children had the opportunity to engage with their heroes one-on-one while getting their DHL rugby balls signed by the team.

The children received an informative chat around nutrition and fitness before an exciting Play-the-Bounce obstacle course by Brightrock, winning participants awesome spot prizes. The adults wore DHL plane and delivery van suits to participate in the DHL Delivery Run, much to the delight of their children cheering them on from the side lines. Once the grand prize was given to the parent-and-child pair who participated with the most spirit, tents were pitched on the hallowed grounds of DHL Newlands and the braai fires got going to end off the night before lights-out.

Treble would like to thank DHL, Brightrock, Tsogo Sun, Peninsula Beverages, CellC, The Entertainer, Deep Heat, Checkers, DSTV and SA Breweries, whose much-valued contributions added to the awesomeness of the event.

Treble geared up to manage DHL Club Newlands Sleepover

Club Newlands – the official supporters club of the DHL Stormers and DHL WP – will be ushering in the 2017 rugby season with a hive of pre-season activities to lift the spirits of the whole family!  We start the year off with a bang in the form of the annual Club Newlands DHL Stormers Sleepover on Friday 3rd February 2017 at DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium.

Parents along with their kids are given the opportunity to pitch a tent on the sacred grounds of DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium a once in a lifetime experience which rugby fans young and old will remember for years to come.

Some of the DHL Stormers team will join the children and assist in a short coaching clinic, followed by a signing and photo session with the boys. Parent and child couples will also be privy to a talk around nutrition and fitness, a few exciting spot prizes on the day and a grand prize for the pair that shows the most physicality and enthusiasm during activities. The adults also have an opportunity to don DHL plane and delivery van suits and participate in the DHL run, much to the delight of their sprogs cheering them on from the side lines. This is then crowned with a braai and a hub of activities throughout the evening for the kids to enjoy before lights out.

‘The DHL Club Newlands Sleepover not only promotes camaraderie between parent and child, but also encourages children to develop and pursue fitness within the realm of local rugby in a fun, interactive space.’ – Selwyn Lewis, Director, Club Newlands.

Club Newlands aims to encourage bonding between parents and their children while participating in exercises which promote a healthy lifestyle with the aid of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) coaching and development department. We also believe that by investing in family oriented events, such as the Sleepover, Club Newlands actively conveys the message that rugby is a way of life for the whole family.

Treble Group activates Captain’s Run and War Room Experience for Momentum

Treble Group, on behalf of Club Newlands, invited Club Newlands’ valued sponsor, Momentum and their VIP guests, to the inner sanctum of the DHL Stormers before their big quarterfinal clash against the Chiefs at DHL Newlands.

The sponsor and their guests attended the DHL Stormers Captain’s Run; the final team training session, normally held a day before kick-off, not open to the media or to the public. They enjoyed a quick meet and greet with their favourite DHL Stormers players in the tunnel, before proceeding to the Club Newlands Lounge for a tasty lunch and War Room experience.

The DHL Stormers War Room is a unique occasion where the DHL Stormers head coach, Robbie Fleck, took time from his game day preparation to give his insight and his plans for the quarterfinal clash.

Coach Robbie Fleck planned a “fearless approach” to the team’s playing style and focussed on playing smart rugby. Unfortunately the DHL Stormers lost their quarterfinal match but the team is determined to take valuable lessons from their defeat and come back stronger next season.

“Sponsors are the lifeblood of the game,” said Club Newlands Director, Selwyn Lewis. “The Club Newlands team would like to thank Momentum for their continued support of the club and our teams. We sincerely hope that our valued sponsor enjoyed this incredible and unique experience.”
