What began as friendly competition between clubs to drive the fitness required of a lifesaver has now grown into a full-scale national event with 2,000 competitors competing in over 520 events over 7 days of multi events (beach, surf, pool). The events are publicised in media, on television and on radio.
2020, 2021 Lifesaving SA National Championships will take place in Port Elizabeth during March school holidays and is supported by the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
