Treble and Springbok Supporters’ Club unleash the magic of Boktown

Newlands, Cape Town – This past weekend saw the start of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, with the Springboks kicking-off at Nelson Mandela Stadium on Port Elizabeth. Our Boks continued their winning streak with another outstanding win. Treble Group and the Official Springbok Supporters’ Club also made sure that Springbok faithful all over South Africa could enjoy the action at Boktown.

Springbok supporters who are not able to attend the games arrive in numbers to support the Boks at key venues across the country. Treble’s activation of Boktown delivers a unique experience that offers supporters the best alternative to being at the tests with live entertainment, affordable food and beverage and fun competitions, activities and giveaways, in and around a live screening of the game. We have also partnered with the SA Rugby Legends Association and MyPlayers to invite seasoned rugby legends and current rugby stars to meet and greet supporters at Boktown. And, of course, we invite Bokkie – the official Springbok mascot – to entertain the kids (and parents!).

As part of their sponsorship of Boktown, PostNet giveaway two brand-new Asics Springboks jerseys to two of the Best Dressed patrons at each and every Boktown. Thank you to PostNet for the awesome prizes.

We were delighted to be joined by none other than Springboks Captain, Warren Whiteley at Boktown Montecasino, who gave great insight into the action during his Q&A sessions. Thank you to MyPlayers for inviting Warren, and for inviting Howard Mnisi (Xerox Golden Lions), Roelof Smith and Adriaan Strauss (Vodacom Blue Bulls), Tersius Marmaan, Vuyo Mboto and Warren Williams (Griffons), Nizaam Caar (DHL Western Province) and former Blitzboks star, Zain Davids. We are also thankful to the SA Rugby Legends Association for allowing us to host Boktown favourite, Gerrie Germishuys, and for welcoming Krynauw Otto and Marius Joubert.

We hailed the return of Boktown to Cape Town this weekend, activating at the Slug & Lettuce River Club, which hosted over 300 supporters. We were thrilled to partner with Heart FM who provided the live entertainment. The event was MC’s by Heart FM sports presenter, Tapfuma, and the DJ’ing was taken care of my popular radio personality, Suga. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Heart FM and are extremely grateful to River Club and Slug & Lettuce for the awesome venue.

Treble would like to thank Tsogo Sun and Slug & Lettuce River Club for the awesome venues. We are also honoured to work with industry giants like Mango Airlines and PostNet. These partners have made a fantastic contribution to the ongoing success of Boktown. We are all looking forward to welcoming supporters to Boktown on September 30, when the Springboks face Australia on home soil.

Newlands, Cape Town – The Currie Cup was back at the iconic DHL Newlands rugby stadium this past weekend as DHL Western Province played against the Xerox Golden Lions. We once again witnessed an astonishing performance from DHL WP with a 39-3 win!

Treble’s events and communications teams continued their high standard of delivery. The Club Newlands Lounge and 100s Bar were both open to supporters and patrons for pre-match drinks before kick-off, and we made sure that all the stadium bars and food kiosks were ready to take care of fans for food and drink! We were delighted to see both new and old faithful supporters cheering up and backing their team.

Our events team delivered another classic DHL Half-Time Run Challenge. The DHL contestants delivered the half-time entertainment for the crowd as they completed against each other for the R 1,000 grand cash prize. Congratulations to Richard Gysen for walking away as the Man of the Run.

“It was really excellent. I had so much fun on and off the field,“ said Gysen. “It was awesome being on the pitch. It was like being right next to the players. I will never forget this.”

The DHL Couch Experience winners were treated to an exclusive VIP food and bar and were spoiled with all kinds of treats before heading to the field for an exclusive live couch experience.

The evening proceeded in a well-heeled manner with the exclusive PostNet Kids Signing Session. We were delighted, as always, to see the warm smiles on the kids’ faces as they made their way onto the hallowed DHL Newlands pitch to meet and greet the players. We love working with PostNet to bring kids from our community closer to rugby and in bringing hope, inspiration and making some of their dreams come true!

It was another exciting weekend at DHL Newlands! The Treble team is proud to work with Western Province Rugby, DHL and PostNet to deliver sport and entertainment excellence for the Currie Cup.

Treble takes part in the #egeXperience at the VS Gaming EGE Expo

International Convention Centre, Cape Town – This weekend saw Treble hitting the ground for the 2017 VS Gaming Electronics & Gaming Expo. Treble recently partnered with Impact Exhibitions and KFM to deliver this growing event, as well as securing VS Gaming as the title sponsor to the 2017 edition.

As part of their sponsorship of the event, VS Gaming hosted the South African DOTA2 Masters Grand Final at EGE this past weekend, which attracted the serious gaming spectators. VS Gaming also threw themselves into the thick of the event, engaging with exhibitors, attendees and cosplayers.

The cosplayers – or costume players – were some of the main spectacles at the event. Cosplayers are more than just fancy dressers, they are serious actors who temporarily take-up the look and personality of their favourite gaming, comic, television and film characters. There was excellent creative effort on the part of the cosplayers at this year’s expo who gave attendees a real treat with their over-the-top performances.

Attendees were also treated to wide range of gaming titles and gaming gadgets. The Sony PlayStation VR experience was particularly popular, showing players how futuristic consumer gaming can be. The stalls were filled with people of all ages, turning their heads and aiming their ‘guns’ in all directions!

The VS Gaming EGE experience did not stop at gaming and electronics, though. Attendees could compete in table-top and board games, and had their pick of memorabilia from the dozens of stalls that were present, which sold comic books, masks, ornaments and much more!

The main attractions were the gaming tournaments. The African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) partnered with Zombie Gamers to host day-long tournaments all weekend, including such titles as Injustice 2, Call of Duty and FIFA. These tournaments attracted professional gamers from all over the country.

Of course, centre stage went to the VS Gaming DOTA2 tournament. Fans of the game were treated to an exciting last leg of the tournament, particularly in the final between White Rabbit Gaming and XTC Gaming, which saw the two sides playing off over five maps – a first in South African DOTA2 history. VS Gaming staged a world-class arena and spectator experience and gave the expo a high-calibre touch.

Treble was extremely thrilled to be a part for the #egeXperience this last weekend and was proud to work alongside Impact Exhibitions, KFM and VS Gaming.

Great moments from VS Gaming EGE 2017:
