Africa As One

1 Billion People. 50 000 km. 45 countries. Together with DHL Express, we’re uniting Africa and rugby fans as one.

In the build up to the 2015 Rugby World Cup, the Treble Group are helping DHL Express to pioneer a unique journey throughout Africa, driving 3 Land Rovers through 45 countries over 45 weeks. The aim of this project is to deliver rugby to Africa and Africa to the rugby world and uniting the fans as one.

In each country, the team has spread the love of the game through activations such as rugby clinics and rugby fun days with around 200 to 400 adults and children in attendance. We have travelled to 18 countries so far and there are 27 more amazing countries to inspire and unite through the love of rugby.

“It’s the one stop rugby shop” says Louise Otter, our Treble Group representative and the team captain, when describing the activations in each African country. Children are able to experience the game first hand and just have fun whilst learning valuable life skills.

Louise has described the experience as being the most incredible thing she has ever done. Each week she has met new people, inspired the youth, uncovered weird and wonderful cultures, seen breathtaking views and received amazing hospitality. Her highlights are “I love giving the kids bags and stationary and getting a cuddle. Being on the road and seeing places most people will never get to see, as they are so remote, is awesome.  The challenge each week of organising a function in a different country is a nice personal achievement as well as getting the team to each country by road.”

The team has arrived at the Réunion Island this week and we wish them all the best for the last leg of their great trek through Africa. Continue to inspire and unite.

Treble activates the Club Newlands Golf Day

Pars, birdies, drives, chips and outstanding putts, the Club Newlands Golf Day was a swinging success!

Club Newlands hosted their annual Golf Day at the beautiful De Zalze Golf Estate in Stellenbosch on Thursday, 5 February 2015. This was the DHL Stormers players, sponsors and club members’ last chance to really let their hair down and enjoy a good round of golf before the Super Rugby season takes off.

Our four ball winner is *drum roll* DHL! We hope you enjoyed the experience and your well deserved prize. The Longest day, Huawei, received a prize too; a mini golf set!

Big thanks to our sponsors and suppliers who helped contribute to our successful event: DHL, Adidas, SAB, Momentum, OudeMolen, OLA, Bok Radio, Landrover, Spur, Powerade, Huawei and Caledon. Thank you to our MC, Matthew Pearce, for his interaction and humour which left the room buzzing.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to all the DHL Stormers players and all our participants in the golf day for their enthusiasm throughout. The Club Newlands Golf Day was a tee-riffic day!

Club Newlands Sleepover

Sweet dreams at the Club Newlands Sleepover!

Parents and kids were invited to camp out on the DHL Newlands field and enjoy a night of fun, food and fitness.

On Friday 6 February, excited parents and kids arrived at DHL Newlands and were eager to get the fun and festivities started! The kiddies joined the City of Cape Town organisation, Come and Play, for games and the DHL Stormers happily accompanied them while the dads were whisked away by the DHL Stomers players; Scarra Ntubeni, Siya Kolisi and newbie Bongi Mbonambi, to chat about their plans for the upcoming season.

The MC, Carl Wastie, entertained the parents and kids with interactive games, great giveaways and dancing competitions, which made for an even more action-packed and fun filled evening.

An unforgettable experience was had by all (including staff). A huge thank you to all our amazing sponsors for their unwavering support: DHL, Adidas, SAB, DSTV, Momentum, OudeMolen, OLA, Bok Radio, Landrover, Spur, Powerade, Huawei, and Caledon.

Treble activates the Club Newlands Kick Off Party

We’ve tackled the start of the season head on and scored!

There’s no better way to kick off the 2015 Super Rugby season than at the Club Newlands Kick Off Party. Fans came out in numbers to the Brackenfell Sports Complex and were first in line to witness the unveiling of the 2015 DHL Stormers team!

We were not only graced with the DHL Stormers presence but also had the privilege of enjoying the soulful sounds of Jimmy Nevis en Desmond Wells se lekker treffers.

A big thank you to all the fans who came out to wish the squad well for the upcoming season. To all our sponsors – DHL, Land Rover, Adidas, Momentum, SAB, Caledon, Huawei, Oude Molen, Powerade, Spur, Ola, The Entertainer, Postnet, Cell C and Bok Radio – we could not have done it without you! Last but not least, thank you to our MC, Carl Wastie, for keeping the crowd and the players entertained with your comedic banter.

We look forward to seeing our boys steal the thunder for the 2015 Super Rugby season.
